Keep your prices in sync across your website
You raise a price and edit the page. Weeks later a customer arrives quoting the old number. They did not misread the page. They found the old price somewhere else, in a place you never opened.
A price rarely lives in one place.
The five places
- The page text. The one you edit.
- The page description. The two lines Google shows under your link.
- The business data behind the page. Hidden labels (called structured data) that tell Google your business name, phone number and prices.
llms.txt. The plain-text summary written for AI tools.- The share image. The picture that shows when someone posts your link.
Search engines and AI tools quote whichever copy they happen to read. Any one of the five can be out of date.
The routine
Keep one facts sheet. A single document with your business name, prices, services, area, hours, phone and email. Change it first, then copy from it.
After any change, read the price in all five places. Each should match the sheet.
Search the whole project for the old price and replace every match, including page descriptions, the structured data and llms.txt. Then check the list of changed files.
Tools for the hard-to-see places
- Structured data: paste the page address into search.google.com/test/rich-results. It shows the business name, phone and prices Google reads.
- Share image: paste the address into LinkedIn’s Post Inspector or Facebook’s Sharing Debugger. Both keep the first image they saw. After you replace the image, click “Scrape again” to refresh their copy.
- Google result: search for your business and read the description. Google updates it on its own schedule, so ask Google to revisit the page with “Request indexing” in Search Console.
Also keep in step
- New page? It needs a menu link, a sitemap entry, an IndexNow ping and a line in
llms.txt, the same day. - Business name, address and phone must be spelled the same on your site, your Google profile and every directory.
- Raising prices after a review or case study? Run the whole routine again.
